A 12-year-old boy died when he was hit by a motorist who was being pursued by police in Bradford.
Bilal Khizar was on a crossing near Asda on Rooley Lane when he was hit by the car at 19:00 BST on Saturday.
The crash happened as the car drove off at speed after being stopped by police for a check. Police said the driver did not stop after hitting the boy.
The car, a red Seat Ibiza, was later recovered in Wyke. Two people have been arrested and are in custody.
Relatives and friends of the boy left flowers and bunting at the crossing on Sunday morning.
West Yorkshire Police has referred the incident to the Independent Police Complaints Commission for consideration.
'Family devastated'The force said a marked police car stopped the Seat in a lay-by.
As officers got out of their car to approach the vehicle, it drove off along the road.
A spokesman said the officers got back into their car and followed the Seat. The collision happened "moments later".
He said: "Because the collision happened immediately after police contact, with officers in initial pursuit, the Independent Police Complaints Commission was contacted last night and one of their investigators attended the scene to undertake their independent assessment into the police role.
"This is the usual and agreed procedure into such incidents."
Det Supt Mark Ridley, of the force's homicide and major inquiry team, said: "This is a tragedy for the family and they are absolutely devastated. Specially trained officers are currently working with them."
Following the incident, the Seat was involved in another collision with two other vehicles on the Chain Bar roundabout for the M606.
Mr Ridley said: "I am appealing directly to anyone who saw the vehicle being driven or the incident to get in contact.
"I need the community to come forward and tell me what has happened and what they have seen to help bring justice to the family."
