A judge may have to decide if further surgery should take place on a boy with brain cancer, a court has heard.
Neon Roberts had a tumour removed last year, and his mother Sally has taken legal action to prevent him having to undergo more surgery.
Ms Roberts, 37, is at the High Court trying to prevent her son from receiving further radiotherapy.
Mr Justice Bodey has been told Neon may need such treatment, but Ms Roberts has not given her consent.
The judge said if Neon's parents wanted to pass the decision to him, he would adjudicate on the case.
The hearing, which is listed for two days, continues.
